Thyme Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 17, 2026

Thyme is a recipe app made by a small independent team in California. We built it so your cookbook belongs to you. That principle shapes this policy, which is short because we collect almost nothing.

The short version

Thyme has no accounts, no sign-up, and no servers of our own. Your recipes live on your device and, if you have iCloud enabled, in your private iCloud storage. We cannot see your recipes, your photos, or anything else in your cookbook. We do not sell data, share data with advertisers, or show ads.

Your recipes and photos

Everything you save in Thyme is stored on your device. If your device has iCloud enabled, your cookbook also syncs through your private iCloud database so it appears on your other devices. That sync happens entirely between your device and Apple's iCloud; it is protected by your Apple account, and we have no ability to read it.

Deleting the app deletes its data from your device. Your iCloud copy is managed through your device's iCloud settings.

Importing recipes

When you import a recipe from a website or a social media link, your device fetches that page directly, the same way a browser would. The request goes from your phone to the website. It never passes through us, and we never see what you import.

Purchases

Thyme Pro purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details, card numbers, or billing information. Apple provides us only anonymous transaction records so the app can unlock what you paid for. Refunds and payment questions are handled by Apple.

Usage analytics

Thyme sends a small set of anonymous usage signals (for example, "a recipe was imported" or "cook mode was opened") to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service. These signals contain no recipe content, no personal information, and no advertising identifiers, and they cannot be tied to you. TelemetryDeck anonymizes data before it is stored. We use these signals only to understand which features matter so we can make Thyme better.

What we never do

We never sell your data. We never share it with data brokers or advertisers. We never read your recipes. We never require an account. If any of this ever changes, we will update this policy and say so plainly in the app before it takes effect.

Children

Thyme does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. There are no accounts and no data collection that would require parental consent.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Material changes will be called out in the app's release notes.
